A siete años de la adopción de la Declaración de la ONU de derechos de campesinos y otras personas que trabajan en áreas rurales” (UNDROP, por sus siglas en inglés), el informe muestra cómo las brechas estructurales en la protección de los derechos campesinos persisten y, en algunos casos, se han agravado. Sin embargo, también destaca experiencias positivas en distintos países que impulsan la igualdad de género, la soberanía alimentaria, el acceso a la tierra y la participación política de las comunidades rurales.

El informe constituye una herramienta fundamental para la incidencia política, la formación y el trabajo de defensa de derechos humanos en el ámbito rural. Su lectura permite comprender el alcance jurídico de la Declaración y ofrece ejemplos de políticas públicas transformadoras que pueden ser replicadas o fortalecidas a nivel local.

The latest report from the United Nations Working Group on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas offers an in-depth analysis of the challenges facing rural communities around the world, from climate change and land concentration to job insecurity and the criminalization of land defense.

Seven years after the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP), the report shows how structural gaps in the protection of peasants' rights persist and, in some cases, have worsened. However, it also highlights positive experiences in different countries that promote gender equality, food sovereignty, access to land, and political participation in rural communities.
